Quest Diagnostics has been hacked. Patient data was exposed. They serve roughly half of U.S. hospitals and physicians. Investigation ongoing.

Quest Diagnostics filed a regulatory disclosure today confirming unauthorized third-party access to its Quanum Lab Services Manager platform, exposing patient records and test data across the nationwide diagnostic network. The clinical laboratory operator temporarily severed Quanum system connections to contain the intrusion while engaging external cybersecurity specialists and federal law enforcement to determine the breach scope.

The fresh healthcare cyberattack follows major historical data security failures hitting national diagnostic networks. In June 2019, Quest Diagnostics disclosed a massive third-party billing vendor breach at American Medical Collection Agency that compromised personal financial records and medical data for 11.9 million patients over an eight-month window.
