As Americans grapple with fluctuating prices at the gas pump, it appears President Donald Trump’s administration is taking a proactive approach to the problem.
According to a scoop from Axios, the U.S. is nearing a “massive” oil deal with Venezuela.
And “massive” actually feels apt here: The U.S. is reportedly in talks of taking an ownership stake in Venezuela’s large oil industry.
A second official added: “President Trump is close to securing America’s energy future for generations to come, not just in the U.S. but in the hemisphere.”
The deal, which would be one of the very first of its kind, would more than double America’s oil reserves — a notable development, given the current state of the Strait of Hormuz.
