RUSSIA has sent a stark warning, threatening to cut off gas to the EU if it gets suspended from the SWIFT payment system, as Moscow continues to mount pressure on Ukraine.
The West has been warned that President Vladimir Putin could launch an attack on Ukraine in days after reports emerged that 100,000 troops have piled up at the Russia-Ukraine border. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday he is in discussions with the US about banning Russia from the SWIFT global payments system as a possible measure. SWIFT is a global electronic payment-messaging system.
