Russian attack may indirectly help US from chip manufacturing perspective – not a political post

Firstly, war is crap and I can’t imagine the nightmares Ukrainians are going through. The title is NOT a click bait for another conspiracy theory This analysis is only based on what happened, and not whys and hows.

Regarding the topic, TSMC Taiwan is creating 90% of advanced chips and to compensate that, US is coming with own foundries. It will take atleast 4-5 years to set them up and by that time China could gain a lot from chip manufacturing if they get hold of TSMC. Now that Ukraine produces 90% of chip grade neon (while people said they can be manufactured elsewhere, it will take few more months or years to get that neon), it will slow down current chip manufacturers. From this perspective US can use their sweet time to setup industries while that Neon is reporduced. Just something that stuck my mind.
