Six Republicans Who Voted to Impeach Trump Led by Mitt Romney – Of Course

by Martin Armstrong

The Senate wrapped up initial arguments on Tuesday and is set to begin hearing evidence Wednesday in Donald Trump’s impeachment trial. History will remember every member who voted that this proceeding is constitutional. There is NO precedent for such a farse and now when the Republicans get back in power they can go back and impeach Obamas for ordering the surveillance of Trump in 2016 which was worse than what Nixon did. Or perhaps we impeach George Washington because he owned slaves?  The House was supposed to be like a Grand Jury. They never presented any evidence nor did they present a single witness. They simply did this to try to prevent Trump from running in 2024. The Constitute does not given Congress the power to retroactively impeach awnyone. The plain language is clear and the Chief Justice refused to participate which in and of itself shows there is no basis for this nonsense. If Trumpo is guilt of insurrection, he should have been charged and that is for the courts to decide.

Judgement in Cases of Impreachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgement and Punishment, according to Law.

Article 2, Section 4

The President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

The interpretation being used is in itself illegal. If it does not expressly say anything about a past president, then they assume they can. This is not the way to interpret the constitution. Since it does not satet that the president may not exercise the common law right of king to Prima Nocta/Noctum, then he too can demand to sleep with every bride on her weding noght to ensure she was a virgin since it is not expressly forbiden. BTW, that evolved into the marriage certificate because you would pay the king not to sleep with your bride which became the license over time.

Trump’s lawyers – David Schoen and Bruce Castor – contended that there is no legal justification to hold a trial for a president who is no longer in office. But senators sided with House managers prosecuting the case. The vote was 56-44 with six Republicans joining every Democrat to go forward with the trial. Those six Republicans might as well join the Democrats for what they have just done is guarantreed that the Republican Party will split. Trump was elected simply because he stepped into a trend which had been moving for decades – the anti-establishment that is fed up with the corruption in Washington that this now raises tro ne heights.

Wednesday is expected to be the first opportunity for impeachment managers, the House Democrats prosecuting the case, to present what they say is new evidence to convict the former president on a single article that he incited a pro-Trump mob to storm the Capitol on January 6, 2021. They never presented anything in the House which was a complete denial of due process of law.

Here is the six Republican senators who voted that the impeachment trial was consistent with the Constitution confirming they are nothing more than swamp creatures themselves. Since he cannot be removed from office, the only purposes of voting with the Democrats is to deny Trump the right to run in 2024.
  • Sen. Susan Collins of Maine
  • Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana
  • Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska
  • Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah
  • Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska
  • Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania
