Small-business bankruptcy filings jump 63%
302 Subchapter V elections were filed in August versus 185 a year earlier. Epiq says the increase reflects more small businesses using restructuring rather than liquidation.

FactSet counted 1,116 announced deals in August versus 1,319 in July. The decline wasn’t uniform: several industries still showed higher three-month deal volumes than a year earlier, including commercial services, industrial services, distribution and health technolog.
