TL;DR:
– Weakly affiliated Democrats had higher natural testosterone levels than strongly affiliated democrats (lower testosterone = more Left-Wing).
– Receiving testosterone treatment made weakly affiliated Democrats more supportive of Republicans (higher testosterone = more Right-Wing).
– The treatment also improved their overall mood.
– “No effects” were found for testosterone treatment in strongly affiliated Democrats (not sure what the study meant by this tbh – maybe that treatment didn’t alter political alignment).
Study concludes: “Our findings provide evidence that neuroactive hormones affect political preferences.”
