The AP reports the 27-year-old NJ man is an officer with Customs and Border Protection.
He was arrested by police for illegally possessing a firearm on the grounds of the Capitol after people in the crowd reported seeing him with a handgun and notified nearby law enforcement officers.
The US attorney’s office in Washington said prosecutors were “not moving forward with charges” without providing any further details.
Two law enforcement officials told Associated Press the officer was not at the rally in any official capacity.
