Its not the teachers that aren’t essential, however. They provide an important service. Its the bureaucratic system in which they are forced to operate that is non essential.
They are not allowed to teach in the true sense of the word.
Socrates himself would receive a failing grade as a teacher. We simply rush our schools so a bunch of meaningless boxes can get checked, until the end of June finally arrives.
The one and only good thing about the lockdowns is that it's proven society can function without the public school system. In fact, even the teachers themselves have insisted that they aren't essential. I couldn't agree more.
