Theft is rampant…

by AC

I live in an upscale neighborhood outside of Portland, OR,
the average house price is over $700k. I didn’t realizethe extent that crime had risen until today. Last month,
someone drilled and drained my gas tank. A couple months
ago, a favorite restaurant was broken into at night and
robbed. Last week, someone tried to rip my closest ATM
apart. But today was the eye opener.

I went to Walmart for a carpet cleaner. Last year, I
walked in, pulled a vacuum cleaner off a shelf and took
it to a counter and paid.

This year, everything is locked up and they escort you to
the self-serve register. So I asked the clerk and she said,

“We get a grab-n-run almost every week”. WHAT?

She said that sometimes it’s coordinated, the inside guy
rolls the stuff to a register like they’ll pay, they call
on their phone, the outside guy drives up to the entrance
and inside guy dashes to the car.

It’s incredible how things changed in one year.
