It’s the Cold War 2.0, and it’s just like the last cold war, only with one less “C” in the acronym.
Because Trump is in desperate need of getting the Passengers of the USS Titanic to rally behind something, so why not all of us just release our pent-up, disunited aggression by turning it into productive energy and directing it towards those dang Chinese!
I mean, haven’t we had enough of those stinkin’ IP stealin’ commies, and haven’t we had our fill of their designer-virus spreadin’ buffets?
Or is that not what’s going on here?
Because that’s what it looks like to me.
To say the geo-political situation between the US and China is getting worse by the week is putting it lightly, for we’re both now at the point of banning passenger flights from entering from one country to the other (China never unbanned them).
Wow.
The return to nationalism is, right along with the economic collapse, happening at breakneck speed.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s administration said on Wednesday it will bar Chinese passenger carriers from flying to the United States starting on June 16 as it pressures Beijing to allow U.S. air carriers to resume flights.
The move, announced by the U.S. Department of Transportation, penalizes China after Beijing failed to comply with an existing agreement on flights between the world’s two largest economies. Relations between the two countries have also soured in recent months amid escalating tensions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
The order applies to Air China (601111.SS), China Eastern Airlines Corp, China Southern Airlines Co (600029.SS) and Hainan Airlines Holding Co (600221.SS).
Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) and United Airlines (UAL.O) have asked to resume flights to China this month, even as Chinese carriers have continued U.S. flights during the pandemic. Delta said in a statement on Wednesday that “we support and appreciate the U.S. government’s actions to enforce our rights and ensure fairness.” United did not immediately comment.
China “remains unable” to say when it will revise its rules “to allow U.S. carriers to reinstate scheduled passenger flights,” the Transportation Department said in a formal notice made public on Wednesday.

Of note is the shift.
That is to say, whereas in 2018 and 2019, we saw certain sub-sections of society affected by the Trade War with China, such as U.S. soybean farmers, now, in a Covid-19 world, we see that everybody is potentially affected, at least without having to manage some indirect work-around.
That said, here’s the question: Who needs the passengers more, and if neither nation wants passengers from the other country, does this mean that not only is globalism collapsing, but we’re headed for extreme isolationism?
