An Air Force service member assigned to the 6th Combat Training Squadron, Detachment 2, died after falling during a pregame rappelling demonstration at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday. He was one of four airmen scheduled to descend from the rafters for UTSA’s Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans game against Navy. He lost control on the rope partway down and hit the field. Medical crews treated him on the turf for about 10 minutes before he was taken to a hospital, where he died. The game was delayed roughly 10 minutes and continued; UTSA beat Navy 38-34. The incident remains under investigation. His name has not been released.
