- The name on the ballot is Flávio Bolsonaro, a senator. Not Jair.
- Jair Bolsonaro is serving a 27 year sentence, under house arrest, for a coup plot after the 2022 loss. He backed his son.
- With 99.52% counted, Flávio has 47.13%, or 55,960,302 votes.
- Lula has 45.04%, or 53,484,316 votes.
- Early boxes had Flávio over 50%. The Northeast came in late and pulled him under the line.
- Blank and null votes sat near 2% and 3%.
- A first round win needs more than half of valid votes. He missed it.
- The runoff is Oct. 25.
- Polls had Lula slightly ahead or tied. The count flipped that.
- Lula is 80 and wants a fourth term, not in a row. His running mate is Geraldo Alckmin.
- Flávio’s running mate is Alfredo Gaspar.
