Welcome to Scotland’ Sturgeon plans tax breaks for immigrants in bid to boost economy

Nicola Sturgeon’s party’s Sustainable Growth Commission report recommends a “Come to Scotland” package including “transition relief” for some immigrants so they can offset their moving expenses against their income tax bills.. and could receive “golden hello” tax breaks if they move to an independent Scotland under plans outlined in an SNP review published today.

But they unlikely to go down well with the 1.1 million Scots earning more than £26,000 who were targeted by Ms Sturgeon’s tax hikes last month. The increases mean a Scottish worker earning £50,000 now pays £824 more a year than if they lived elsewhere in Britain.

Nicola Sturgeon – Scotland’s Merkel. But without the brains.
