Why Baseball star Hank Aaron’s death negatively impacts Global Economy and Stock Markets!

Sharing is Caring!

On Friday January 22. 2021, Henry Aaron who broke legend Babe Ruth’s home run record in 1974 passed away in his sleep.  While the cause of death for Aaron who was 86 was not released, his death has provided an asterisk to his legacy.

On January 5, 2021, Aaron and several black civil rights leaders including Andrew Young chose to receive the Covid-19 vaccination.  Aaron and the others did so to highlight the importance of getting vaccinated for Black Americans who might be hesitant to do so.

Aaron’s vaccination was widely publicized.   See AP Hank Aaron, civil rights leaders get vaccinated in Georgia”, January 5, 2021.  I had initially learned about Aaron’s noble deed from a local radio station’s disk jockey.

Aaron’s adding the question that his death could have potentially been caused from a Covid-19 vaccination to his legacy has:

  • reduced the percentage of individuals in the US and world who will be willing to be vaccinated
  • decreased the probability for there ever being herd immunity which occurs only after a certain percentage of population is vaccinated

Due to the two above items the US and global economic recoveries will be slower and less robust.   This will have a negative impact on the global stock market.   With the US and many of the world stock markets at record or at multi-year highs exposure should be reduced and cash raised.  For additional rational see “S&P 500 at 3rd Perilous Peak since 1929”, January 16, 2021.

Utilizing the Bull Vix algorithm to trade the VIX and its related securities which increase upon the S&P 500 declining or its volatility increasing is recommended.  The Bull Vix’s nine gains and one loss for its alerts to trade the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) for the concluded minimum five-week post BSA occurrence trading periods are depicted in the chart below.  The one-time payment subscriptions to the Bull Vix’s alerts range from $49 for alerts to trade VXX and UVXY shares and $499 for alerts to trade VIX, VXX and UVXY call options. Click to subscribe.
