BOOM: Ben Wittes offered Jim Comey an apparent copy of the Steele dossier in *December 2016,* according to FBI emails. Wittes is the 3rd Brookings official now linked to dossier. This is first indication he offered assistance to FBI in Trump probe.

Wittes wrote this in one of his articles defending Comey after he was fired.
