BREAKING: Prime Minister Trudeau announces
1) Air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing and Air Transat are cancelling air service to all Caribbean destinations and Mexico starting this Sunday Jan 31 until April 30, 2021.
2) All international flights must land in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Montréal.
3) Starting next week, all travellers returning to Canada must get tested and wait at a government approved hotel for 3 days at their own expense (estimated cost 2000$). If the test comes back negative, they continue the quarantine at home. If the result is positive, they will have to quarantine in designated government facilities.
“Travellers coming into Canada will be forced into a mandatory hotel quarantine as the government is increasingly concerned about the risk of new COVID variants that appear to be more transmissible and more deadly.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the new quarantines as part of a suite of new travel restrictions on Friday morning.
Trudeau said travellers will pay for their hotel stays while waiting for a negative COVID test
“Travellers will then have to wait for up to three days at an approved hotel for their test results at their own expense, which is expected to be more than $2,000,” he said.”
