West Midlands Police arrested 15 year old Fraser, a Walsall schoolboy and Reform UK supporter, at his family home around 8:30 a.m. on August 3 after Wolverhampton Conservative councillor Simon Bennett complained about Facebook posts criticizing his attire at council meetings, joking he was “not looking like a rent boy,” and posting an edited photo of Bennett with rabbit ears captioned about a rabbit devouring the last shreds of Wolverhampton Conservatives’ credibility. Four officers in two cars took Fraser from his bed, searched him in front of neighbors, seized his phone and laptop, searched his bedroom, and at the station collected his DNA, fingerprints, and mugshot before placing him in a cell. He was released on bail and barred from council meetings. Police told his lawyers on September 8 the comments could be considered a hate crime offence. As of late October reports he remains uncharged while the Free Speech Union supports him. The case, first detailed in the Telegraph on October 5, spread widely today.
