By Election Day 2016, taxpayers will have paid out more than $16 million to fund Bill Clinton’s pension, travel, office expenses and even the salaries and benefits of staff at his family’s foundation, federal records show. Since he left the White House in 2001, Clinton and his office have received more money through the Former Presidents Act than any other ex-president, according to a POLITICO analysis of budget documents. Multiple sources familiar with Clinton’s funding say the special federal money has supplemented the salaries of some employees of the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation, a global nonprofit that has served as Hillary Clinton’s primary platform as she prepared for a presidential campaign.
Critics for years have questioned why taxpayers need to support former presidents when they and their families can reap huge paydays, like the then-record $15 million book advance paid to Clinton for his 2004 memoir.
But scrutiny of the act — and:
Obama restores lifetime Secret Service for former presidents, why should rich presidents pay when Veterans can give it up???
In 1994, as a cost-saving measure, Congress acted to limit protection for future former presidents and spouses to just ten years after they left office. The 1994 measure exempted then-President Bill Clinton and first applied to George W. Bush and all his successors.
Eighteen years later, “deep state???) Congress reconsidered.
“The world has changed dramatically since the 9/11 terrorist attacks,” said Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, during House debate on the bill in November. “We must make sure that the safety and security of our former chief executives is not jeopardized,” said Smith.
There were some voices of dissent about restoring lifetime protection to “RICH” former presidents with pensions.
“I think we have seen that being a former president can be a pretty lucrative career, and I feel that after 10 years, if these former presidents feel the need for additional security, they should pay for it themselves,” said Rep. Howard Coble, R-N.C., in a statement. He led the fight in 1994 to limit protection for former presidents to just 10 years. Nevertheless, with:
History and Actions prove Obama wasn’t a peoples man like many believed, but the sell out with a nice smile, empty promises, with smooth lies. The Obama Scandals: The 22 Worst Outrages of the Obama Administration
Don’t believe the spin. Barack Obama was a machine politician from Chicago, not a post-political saint sent to deliver us from politics as usual, and his administration was riddled with scandals. As historians get busy with their hagiographies and the mainstream media mine relentlessly for supposed corruption in the Trump administration, this book lays out the evidence of the Obama administration’s abuse of power. White House reporter Keith Koffler covered all eight years Barack Obama’s presidency and wrote about the administration’s scandals as they unfolded.
From Hillary Clinton’s copious wrongdoing to Fast and Furious, the IRS attack on conservatives, and the most recent revelations of the “unmasking” of Trump officials’ names, the pantheon of Obama administration misdeeds is succinctly described in a book that finally sets the record straight. The Obama administration was not just incompetent.
It was corrupt!!! Below is the proof you need when your liberal friends tell you it just isn’t so.
