Starting November 6 people in England and Wales can go to jail for having or sharing porn that shows someone choking or smothering another person in a realistic way. Max 2 years for just having it, 5 years for posting it. Same rules hit fake incest and adults pretending to be kids under 16. This comes from the Crime and Policing Act 2026. It follows a 2025 review that said choking porn was everywhere and making the act look normal. Government says choking and smothering mean what they normally mean. Sites like iWantClips are already blocking 17 types of videos for UK users, including face sitting, breast smothering, breath play, and scissor holds. Groups say face sitting can count if it blocks the nose and mouth. Older laws already banned some extreme stuff.
The review said choking porn had become totally normal and the ban was needed.
Watching face sitting is now punishable by up to 2 years in prison.
