During the presidential campaign and even after Trump’s victory, fashion industry constantly provoked Melania Trump. Numerous designers made it perfectly clear they will never dress her because Melania’s husband isn’t tolerant, doesn’t respect women, religions, other races, and so on. That’s always been weird because it is a well-known fact that fashion industry is one of the most racist industries with zero tolerance for people who don’t meet their standards.
Popular designer Tom Ford was outspoken regarding this topic and said that he refused to dress Melania even after she asked him. In his appearance on The View, For said he would not be dressing Melania Trump while she was in the White House because his clothes are ‘too expensive’ for a first lady to wear, noting that in that position she would have to ‘relate to everybody.’
However, his statement came with certain consequences. Fox News report that the Wynn Las Vegas hotel has stopped selling Tom Ford cosmetics and sunglasses and President-elect Donald Trump declared on television it is because of the designer’s diss over dressing his wife, Melania. Michael Weaver, the spokesman for the hotel, confirmed it removed Ford’s lines of those items from its stores over the weekend, but declined to say why.
Trump said in an interview that aired Tuesday night on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” that hotel owner Steve Wynn “said he thought it was so terrible what Tom Ford said, that he threw his clothing out of his Las Vegas hotel.”
During the same interview, Trump also debunked Ford’s statement that Melania has asked him to dress her. He said that Melania “Never asked Tom Ford, doesn’t like Tom Ford, doesn’t like his designs.”
Although the Wynn Las Vegas didn’t sell Ford’s clothes, they featured his beauty products, sunglasses, and such. All these items are, now, removed from the shelves.
Melania will, most likely, wear Ralph Lauren’s dress for the inauguration tomorrow.
