A word about Tucker Carlson and January 6, 2021

by SunkenGravyBoat

There’s a lot of pushback, mostly from the left about Tucker Carlson playing the unedited footage from inside the Capitol on January 6, 2021. The people who have been most vocal claim that it is an inaccurate representation of the events that occurred that day. They’re wrong in that it is video evidence. Believe not thy lying eyes! They’re also misunderstanding the greater issue at play here.

While there were violent actors in the crowd, who rightfully should be prosecuted for their actions that day, a good number of people who were there were non-violent, and were misrepresented by the Jan 6 committee and the cherry picked video evidence they chose to show. Which was heavily edited by a Hollywood producer, and even had a misleading soundtrack added to increase the drama. This is problematic for two reasons.

First, choosing to show only video that supports a particular narrative and then claiming that the unedited and previously unseen video Tucker Carlson showed should be classified for the interests of national security is an obvious lie of omission, which is still a lie. In this case, a big lie. This was an attempt to control a narrative and to bring the full force of the law to bear on people who had nothing to do with the violent acts of others as though they participated in a coordinated attack, which the events of January 6 were more certainly not. Leading me to the second point.

What that video evidence shows, and what the prosecutors knew about but failed to reveal, is that the people they prosecuted as violent extremists were acting in a peaceful orderly manner. In legal terms this is referred to as exculpatory evidence and it is against the law for a prosecutor to withhold such evidence since it can exonerate the accused.

What these tapes prove isn’t that there weren’t violent outbursts on January 6th. There were, and the convictions in those cases should stand. What it proves is that there are a lot of people who were convicted wrongly, and others who are in jail and still haven’t had a trial. Just to keep them quiet so that the January 6th committee could protect it’s narrative, and cover up their lie of omission.

People like Chuck Schumer, The Majority Leader of The Senate, and Mitch McConnell, The Minority Leader of The Senate, calling on Rupert Murdoch to censor Tucker Carlson because he revealed the coverup is pure Nixonian interference with the free press, and it should be labeled and condemned as such.
