Anthropic’s $2 trillion IPO pitch meets slower growth; some investors now talk $1.5 trillion

Anthropic raised $65 billion in May at a $965 billion valuation. It filed confidentially for an IPO and bankers floated a roughly $2 trillion target. At an investor day Wednesday in San Francisco, the company said third-quarter revenue reached $16.8 billion, up 45 percent from $11.6 billion in the second quarter, and that it was profitable on an adjusted basis. Sequential growth slowed after more than doubling from the first to second quarter. Some current and prospective investors who attended discussed a valuation around $1.5 trillion instead.
