I had no idea Ashton Kutcher had quit acting to run his business called THORN, which rescues child-sex trafficking victims. He goes on police raids, and he says he can never forget what he finds. He said one little girl, the age of his own child, was being raped by a man, and she was so used to it, she thought it was a type of play.
In testifying before the Senate he said, “It’s bestowed upon all of us by our Constitution,” he told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. “Every citizen in this country has the right to pursue it and I believe that is incumbent upon us as citizens of this nation, as Americans, to bestow that right upon others. Upon each other and upon the rest of the world. But the right to pursue happiness, for so many, is stripped away. It’s raped. It’s abused. It’s taken by force, fraud or coercion. It is sold for the momentary happiness of another.”
I am so grateful to see a high profile actor creating a company to help in rescuing victims of human trafficking. Ashton said he created the company called THORN along with Demi Moore. This really feeds my soul to know others realize how this horror is very rampant in our society. I have spent time researching it, and in the last year what I have found has sickened me. I have had to grow closer to God to instill in myself the courage to continue with my research. I know God considers those who would crush the innocence of a child His worst enemy. It is truly the worst evil of mankind.
Kutcher’s organization, Thorn, uses a web-based technology called Spotlight to combat “modern slavery,” which is defined by the State Department as human trafficking in which individuals are exploited for labor or sex.
Kutcher again got emotional when describing how he was unable to give technology to the Department of Homeland Security to help to locate a young girl being raped a video on the dark Web.
“It devastated me,” he said. “It haunted me. Because every night, I had to go to sleep every night and think about that little girl who was still being abused, and the fact that if I built the right thing, we could save her. So that’s what we did. And now, if I got that phone call, the answer would be ‘yes.'”
Spotlight is described by Thorn as a software that “takes massive amounts of data and turns it into an asset for law enforcement, improving the effectiveness of human trafficking investigations.”
At least 27 million people worldwide are forced into modern slavery, Kutcher said Wednesday. He said he has seen victims of human trafficking in Russia, India, Mexico, New York and New Jersey, and has also been alongside the FBI on raids.
Kutcher also answered critics who say he should stick to his day job of acting. But he said of his fight against human trafficking, “That’s my day job and I’m sticking to it.” Kutcher said Thorn — which he founded with his ex-wife, Demi Moore — last year saved more than 6,000 victims and identified more than 2,000 traffickers in the process. Kutcher said organizations like his own show the success public-private partnerships and investment in technology can haveWe need government to join us as investment partners and support the ongoing innovation needed to stay ahead of perpetrators as well as invest in the technical support for law enforcement agents that are working to protect our kids,” he said..
I thank Kutcher for being such a good man to sacrifice his career to save victims of sex trafficking. We owe him such a debt of gratitude.

In another story on sex-trafficking it is being reported in the WASHINGTON POST there is a high amount of sex trafficking in our Nation’s Capitol in DC. I am not surprised at this report, as it does seem to be concentrated there. The DAILY CALLER is reporting the concentration of this crime is so bad in Washington DC that it has penetrated the DC Police Department. This news is also not surprising, and many DC power brokers are involved. It actually is mind blowing, and I pray the ring in Washington will be broken apart soon.
A judge sentenced a former D.C. police officer who served as a pimp for two teenage girls to seven years in prison Thursday. Linwood Barnhill Jr., 48, who resigned from the Metropolitan Police Department after his arrest, pleaded guilty to two counts of pandering a minor and one count of possession of child pornography. After his release from prison, Barnhill will be under 10 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life..
The judge said she accepted the light sentence — Barnhill faced a maximum sentence of 24 years — primarily to protect the victims’ privacy, News4’s Mark Segraves reported, but also because Barnhill didn’t abuse his police powers in committing the crimes. The attorney for one of the teenagers disputed that, saying his client was afraid to testify because more officers could be involved. “The victim that I represent understood him to be a cop,” attorney William Johnson said. “She actually rode in a car with him, and he pulled a gun from underneath the seat and bragged about being a D.C. police officer.”
Barnhill’s arrest followed a string of troubling events for the department. The same month Barnhill was arrested, Marc Washington, another officer with the MPD, was arrested on child pornography charges. His body was pulled from the Washington Channel weeks later. A third officer was also under investigation for possibly tipping Washington off about his forthcoming arrest. All three officers were employed in MPD’s Seventh District, law enforcement sources said.
So actually it is beginning to make sense why DC is so infested with pedophiles…when a Police Department is so corrupt, it allows for rampant crime to flourish. God help us to save the children.
