Britain’s grid came seconds from collapse. France sent 2 GW to keep the lights on

On June 23, during a heatwave the UK grid frequency dropped to its lowest of the year. National Energy System Operator called French grid operator RTE for emergency help. French interconnectors reversed flow and sent nearly 2 GW into Britain within minutes. Experts and reports called it seconds from a serious system incident.
