China stops fuel exports as the global diesel market is already running short
October 1, 2026 — Chinese refiners suspend fuel exports until further notice
Four people briefed on the matter told Reuters that Chinese refiners have stopped exporting oil products to destinations outside Hong Kong and Macau until Beijing gives new instructions.
PetroChina has already canceled several October cargoes, including gasoline and jet fuel. Zhejiang Petrochemical also scheduled no product shipments during China’s week-long holiday.
Beijing has not said when exports will resume. The current restriction could be reconsidered after October 7, depending on domestic inventories and refinery output.
