Donald Trump Responds to Meryl Streep's Comments

Sharing is Caring!

While Golden Globes mark the award season and should be about acting, movies, and such, last night’s ceremony was focused on politics. Besides Jimmy Fallon who slammed the incoming President of the United States, the British actor Hugh Laurie also made a dig at Trump, as well as Meryl Streep.

One of the most famous actresses of all times was honored at the Golden Globes ceremony where she received a lifetime achievement award. She took the opportunity during her special moment to make comments about none other than President-elect Donald Trump.

The CNN reports: “In a nearly 6-minute address while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award, the actress denounced Trump’s campaign rhetoric and criticized him for mocking a disabled reporter.”

Streep said: “There was one performance this year that stunned me. It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good, there was nothing good about it, but it was effective and it did its job. It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power, and the capacity to fight back.”

It’s a well-known fact that Donald Trump is outspoken, he says what he thinks, and he didn’t want to let this slide. He took to Twitter to respond to Streep’s comments calling her overrated and pointing out she doesn’t even know him, yet she took the liberty to say such things.

According to the New York Times, Trump wasn’t even surprised: “Mr. Trump, in a brief telephone interview, said he had not seen Ms. Streep’s remarks or other parts of the Globes ceremony, which were broadcast on NBC, but he added that he was “not surprised” that he had come under attack from “liberal movie people.”

  1. Wow, Trump is having to speak up continually about these attacks. He needs to be focusing on other things. I think it is time for all citizens to stand up for our Country. I know during the Obama reign I was guilty of too much criticism of the office of the Presidency, and honestly, I regret it. It seems none of us have enough respect for the Presidency. We need to accept the election results and support the chosen President.

    • It is amazing that Mr Trump has not even assumed office yet he is being lambasted from so many liberal sides. Wait a while and see if your criticism of Obama was justified or not. Lots and lots of dirty laundry is to be aired from that quarter.

    • Like Rambo used to say, “let it go”. Why all of the sudden, is that difficult?
LIke I’ve repeatedly said, “we are saving the libs from themselves”.
A gigantic shift in power going on in this country. An unstoppable movement that is coming to terms on just who is our ‘real’ enemy. We’re getting it.
      And it is gooooooood……Peace.

  2. Why do these people want to destroy themselves? Anyone that has done this with Trump, seems to get destroyed, in the end. I used to tolerate her acting, until I just found out she was another mis-guided soul like that DeNiro chump. Why are these people advocating a system that has proven to be against the American people? That’s what I see. They want to keep it the same.
The inability to grasp the fact that this country is in a full-blown movement away from these well-‘known’ cabals of people. She talks in support of this. Unbelievable.
Put her on the “no-watch” list and block out the noise… Simple.

  3. Who is this woman? Is she a politician or a make believe? Don’t want to know…Not interested. Anything that comes from Hollywood make believe monkeys is just air. It doesn’t keep you warm in winter nor cools you down in summer. They are just a useless bunch paid to keep our attention away from reality and from asking questions.
