Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis raised close to $14 million in April — his biggest fundraising month since the 2018 campaign.
Two donors were responsible for over half of the money donated to the Friends of Ron DeSantis political committee, pouring in $7.8 million of the nearly $14 million haul. Chicago hedge fund manager Kenneth Griffin was the largest of the donors, donating $5 million. The Republican Governors Association contributed $2.8 million. Griffin was also the biggest DeSantis donor in 2018.
The group’s war chest now has close to $31 million on hand.
The numbers stand in stark contrast to the donations to former governor and current Florida Sen. Rick Scott, who in 2013 took six months to raise what DeSantis has raised in April alone.
