People don’t quite get how important this mandatory digital ID verification is.
It’s not just being able to monitor and track people.
It’s about being able to unperson anyone at any time completely and utterly.
Imagine it one day your power goes out, your connection is dead, your phone no longer has service, you can’t access your bank account. Everything is gone. Because the glowies revoked your digital ID and said it was being fraudulently used by an AI.
You go to the bank to try and get your money, but banks don’t have physical offices with people anymore. At least none you’d ever be a customer of.
Defeated you go home but the digital lock on it was tied to your digital ID and you can’t access it any more, the landlord already swooped in to take your stuff and lock the place back up since he was told it was being used fraudulently by someone using a fake digital ID.
You are now homeless, penniless and can’t even access any kind of social welfare because as far as society is concerned you do not and never did exist.
You can’t even beg as you have no digital wallet to hold money.
