Inflation and record gas prices are the TOP concerns for voters in swing districts in another sign Democrats are facing an uphill battle in the midterms, new poll shows

  • Inflation rose 8.3 percent in April over the same time a year prior, ending a months-long steady increase of 40-year record high rising costs
  • Gas prices meanwhile have continued to set new benchmarks this month
  • As of Monday the average price of a gallon at the pump is now nearly $4.62
  • In the new poll, the largest share of voters said President Biden was to blame for the rising costs, while the next-highest amount of people blamed oil companies
  • A majority of voters also backed the government expanding oil and gas drilling
  • It’s what Republicans have urged Biden to do to lessen the energy price crisis

Sky-high inflation and record gas prices rank as the top concerns for American voters in four battleground states, a new poll suggested on Monday.

A 25-percent plurality of people surveyed said it was their top issue with less than six months to go until November’s midterm elections.

In a better sign for Democrats, the second-highest ranked issue is the Supreme Court’s looming decision on whether to overturn federal abortion protections granted in Roe v. Wade, according to the poll’s data obtained by the Washington Examiner.
