Iran hit at least 24 ships near the Strait of Hormuz in the two weeks through mid-October, the heaviest stretch since the US-Israel-Iran war started on 28 February. Six were struck on 12 October alone. On 13–14 October projectiles sank the Singapore-flagged container ship GFS Pride (21 crew evacuated, no injuries; IRGC said it hit a mine on an unauthorized route) and the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged Cape Dao (one crewman killed in the 23 September strike that finally finished it). UKMTO logged further attacks in the prior 48 hours. Oil volumes through the strait have dropped sharply. Iran says the strikes stop ships using routes it has not approved. The US has separately hit vessels trying to bypass its blockade. Twenty-four seafarers have died in the area since the war began.
