Moments ago, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called for Press Secretary Sean Spicer to be fired after he made comments comparing Assad to Hitler. This foolish woman falsely accused Spicer of “downplaying the horror of the Holocaust.” Although Spicer’s comments left room for misinterpretation, he was condemning the horrific actions of Assad, not justifying Hitler’s flagrant misdeeds. Pelosi should apologize for grossly twisting the words of the Press Secretary.
Spicer stated the following: “You had someone who was as despicable as Hitler who didn’t even sink to using chemical weapons. So you have to, if you are Russia, ask yourself is this a country that you and a regime that you want to align yourself with.” Although Hitler did execute millions of Jewish people with the use of gas chambers, Spicer’s intent was to magnify the horrificness of Assad. He attempted to convey that Hitler did not physically drop bombs on the heads of the people he despised, unlike Assad. If Spicer had made this declaration as a Democrat, there would be no outrage and the Left would praise him for noting the parallels between two ruthless tyrants. However, since Spicer is a Republican who misphrased his point, the mainstream media and radical leftists seized the opportunity to take his statements, twist them, and run with it. In no way did the Press Secretary downplay the horrors of the Holocaust; Spicer clearly slammed Hitler as despicable.

Instead of attempting to cause additional political discourse, Nancy Pelosi would do well to focus her attention on the plethora of issues and flawed individuals within her own Party. The remarks of the Press Secretary were completely taken out of context. He condemned both Assad and Hitler as terrible and despicable human beings. Pelosi has far too many woes in the Democrat Party to be politicizing on the commentary of the U.S. Press Secretary.
