this is an issue of statistical scale & interpretation: a thing can be true at a population scale and not true for particular individuals. the broad scale is not "more true" than the individual scale, and it's inappropriate to apply population conclusions back to the individual

it's particularly troubling if physicians and nurses are being discouraged from noticing and fully investigating & reporting anything that contradicts those population-scale data because now you have a self-reinforcing feedback loop & even your population data is biased & fucked
