National DNA Day celebrates the “discovery of the DNA double helix structure,” which is used in genealogy to trace your family ancestry.

For 2023, the holiday marks 70 years since the discovery of the double helix and 20 years since the completion of the Human Genome Project, according to the National Human Genome Research Institute.
