Going to Welker on the topic of Sanders ducking questions about Sadler suggesting McCain’s take on Gina Haspel’s CIA nomination didn’t matter because he’s “dying anyway,” Wallace quipped: “Kristen Welker, how do you resist the temptation to run up and wring her neck? Why can’t she just say if a staffer said that, we’re going to get to the bottom of it and she’ll be fired?”
After the show, Wallace apologized in a tweet.
It’s a common figure of speech, but in January of 2011, MSNBC went all-in to turn Sarah Palin’s common figure of speech and her clip art into the stuff of assassination porn, and Chris Matthews regularly compares everyone to the right of Obama with Hitler, Saddam Hussein, and occasionally to change things up, the Khmer Rouge and Kim Jong-Un. As Kurt Schlichter likes to say, the left isn’t enjoying having to play by the rules they established.
