He purports to have asked for Federal support and to have been turned down because a chemical disaster does not cover a traditional FEMA remit, such as a more natural disaster.
This is the first time he has mentioned FEMA or related Federal agencies.
On the part of FEMA this is nonsense. Here are two FEMA guides
, outlining their response obligations and guidelines for hazardous materials and chemical related disasters.
On the part of the Governor we can find no evidence he has requested help.
No such material has been posted to the website of the governor.
Yet, we CAN find the official request for FEMA assistance recently issued by the governor of California.
Assistance California is currently receiving.
It seems clear that Governor DeWine, and FEMA, are feeding the people of East Palestine a fabrication.
Now the GOP and Federal government are scrambling to put together a ramshackle story in an attempt to subdue the embarrassment they have been caused.

The sad truth is that all of those people in Ohio are going to be dying of early onset cancer in the next few years.
The small animals all died pretty much instantly on exposure, which means humans have 5-10 years.
Then you have the even bigger deal that the entire Ohio River may well be poisoned – we don’t know, because no one is talking about it, but it seems like it would be – which would mean that half of Ohio, most of West Virginia.

And of course, the doom-sayers could be right, and this could basically give tens of millions of people early-onset cancer within the decade.
At this point, how anybody can trust the government is beyond me, but here we are.
We need a partial collapse so that we can simply rebuild something sane, but that’s probably going to involve some guerilla warfare, and hence, is going to suck.
