(CNN)Four people were shot — one fatally — as a gunman went on a shooting spree in the northwest suburbs of Phoenix on Thursday, police said.
Nine other people were hurt by shrapnel and debris, Sgt. Brandon Sheffert with the Peoria Police Department said at a news conference.
“We have a total of eight incidents as of now,” he said.
Police pulled over the suspect in Surprise after his vehicle was spotted by a firefighter, Sheffert said.
The shooting scenes are in Glendale, Peoria, and Surprise — three cities just northwest of Phoenix in a region known as the West Valley. The shootings took place over the course of more than an hour, Sheffert said.
One person has died and 13 others have been injured after a 90-minute shooting spree caused terror in a town.
At least four of the victims were shot and others were injured either in shrapnel or resulting car accidents, Brandon Sheffert, Peoria Sergeant said.
The 13 wounded victims are expected to survive and suffer non life-threatening injuries.
Authorities were called to reports of an active shooter in the West Valley, around 20 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix, Arizona, at around 12.30pm local time (8pm GMT).
The shooting spree saw eight separate crime scenes within approximately an hour and a half, Surprise and Peoria police said.
