Plot Twist: Russia Does Not Demand Payment for Russian Gas in Rubles at All

by Chris Black

Vladimir Putin signed on March 31, 2022 the decree on Russian gas trade with countries that are hostile to him and that have imposed sanctions against him, including the freezing of Russian assets in Western banks.

But contrary to the assertions of the media and the Atlanticist governments, which are almost shameless disinformation, it is not at all a question of an obligation to pay for the supply of gas in rubles!

Russia only requires that from 1 April onwards those who buy gas pay for it in the currency of their choice (i.e. possibly in dollars, euros, Yuan or rubles…), but not to a Gazprom bank account in a bank in Europe, the United States or abroad but directly to Gazprombank in Russia.
