Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a viral respiratory disease of zoonotic origin caused by the SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV). Between November 2002 and July 2003, an outbreak of SARS in southern China caused an eventual 8,098 cases, resulting in 774 deaths reported in 17 countries,[1]

Don’t think it will be long before this number will be massively eclipsed.
I was shocked to find out how few SARS cases there actually were!
(I think we can assume huge under-reporting for both outbreaks)
Current number of cases:

Yes – I am aware that many die from the flu even in North America.
My point is that all the SARS hype will be nothing compared to this current outbreak!
