Segregated Prisons for Terrorists are Here, but They are Too Little, Too Late

by Mark Angelides

High-risk terrorists will now be kept in segregated prisons in the UK, but the damage has already been done; the response is too little, and it leaves the main recruiters still controlling the prison populations. What’s worse is that the Government is well aware of the radicalization that takes place behind bars and is actively involved in letting it happen.
It has been known since at least 2007 by the British government that Radical Islamists are using the prison system to convert and radicalize prisoners. Whether it is by offering protection to those who embrace Islam, or by threats to family in the outside world, the fact is that prisons are a hotbed of terror recruitment. In 2007, Ministers were considering segregated prisons as a method to deal with the then already growing issue; instead they opted for the “Muslim friendly” option of sending in an army of “Qualified Imams” to help with the issue. And yes, it turned out as badly as you probably guessed.
There are presently more than 200 of these Imams doing “outreach” work in prisons across the country. here are a few of their views and connections (with thanks to the
Shaykh Yusuf Az Zahaby, is a prison chaplain in West Bromwich. He is a member of Al Hikma Media, an Islamist organisation run by extreme preachers, including: “Shady Suleiman, who calls for the killing of women who engage in pre-marital sex; Abdur Raheem Green, who speaks of a “Jewish stench” and claims that it is permissible to beat women to “bring them to goodness,” and Suhaib Webb. Webb, according to FBI surveillance documents, spoke at a dinner in 2001 alongside the late Al Qaeda operative Anwar Al-Awlaki, and raised £100,000 in donations for the legal defence of Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, an Islamist radical who shot and killed two police officers in Georgia, USA.”
“Sahib Bleher, an Imam at Woodhill Prison, who was also the General Secretary of the Islamic Party of Britain, a political party that advocated killing homosexuals and transforming Britain into an Islamic state.”
Imam Azadul Hussain, who recently spoke at an event organised by CAGE (formerly known as CagePrisoners), a pro-Taliban group led by Moazzam Begg, who was recently charged with “providing terrorist training and funding terrorism overseas.” The event was jointly hosted with HHUGS, a charity that provides financial support to the families of convicted terrorists. Hussain shared a platform with Suliman Gani, an extremist preacher who is a prominent supporter of convicted terrorist Aafia Siddiqui, whom FBI Director Robert S. Mueller has described as “an al-Qaeda operative and facilitator.”
And of course the net result of using “prison chaplains” (or Imams as they more truly are), has been further and more dangerous radicalization.
The new “Jihadi Prisons” will house those considered the most dangerous. For example, Michael Adebolajo, the murderer of Lee Rigby, who is thought to have already radicalized up to 15 other inmates. Anjem Choudrey, convicted Hate Preacher and ISIS recruiter. But it will only house 28 prisoners. How long, I wonder, before the MSM start decrying this facility as the British Guantanamo Bay? And how much money will the British taxpayer end up paying to these animals after some Islamist lawyers take the UK government to court for “not protecting their Human rights”?
The idea that removing only 28 of the most high-risk prisoners will in any way change the massive influence that Islamists have in prisons is laughable. Sadly, the government already knows this; and this is just an exercise in window dressing.

  1. The known terrorists need to be held in solitary…….not segregation…. Can’t recruit if you don’t see anyone to recruit, now can you?
