This week 550 service men from army and police, conducted the anti terror practice “fides” in and around Bern, the capital of Switzerland.
Christian Brenzikofer, the commander of the Bern canton police, spoke to the media about an appropriate and necessary exercise.
General Mathias Tüscher, commander of Territorial Division 1, also spoke of a necessary exercise. “You have to know heads before the crisis,” he said. The soldiers were equipped with live ammunition for the exercise.
The scenario envisaged a terrorist organization carrying out several attacks outside of the canton of Bern. The Bernese police support the affected police corps and were therefore understaffed. Meanwhile, the army took over the protection of buildings and situation monitoring in the Bern region.
And this is the most interessting part i think.
Following places had to be secured.
– Headquarters of the Federal Office of Public Health BAG,
Berne Liebefeld ( several armored personnel carrier
stationed in front of it )
– Country seat of the Federal Council, Kehrsatz
– Food distribution center Coop, Riedbach
– Grauholz motorway service area
– Convoy of a magistrate from Bern Airport to the Federal
Palace
Well…everyone knows what seems to be coming for many countries, it feels surreal for me, but it’s fecking real.
