Why is the White House lying about the percentage of vaccinated Americans?!?!?

In a press conference Friday, October 08, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that 80% of American people were vaccinated:

And because of the rise of the delta variant, because of the fact that even though it was a vaccine approved under a Republican administration, even though we now have full FDA approval, and even though it’s widely available across the country, we still have 20 percent of the country who have decided not to get vaccinated.

The same day the CDC claims the U.S. only has a 55% vaccination rate

With only about 55% of the U.S. population fully vaccinated and some additional protection among people who have been recently infected, there is not enough immunity to fight off the more contagious delta variant, the infectious diseases expert warned.

Which number is correct is irrelevant to me, I wanna know why the current administration is lying about the numbers ….
