Lesson for conservatives: If you are conferred power yet refuse to wield it, you don’t deserve power. Power only works if you have the will to use it. And if you lack the will to use it, you don’t have power. Power trumps principles every time. This is why you lose.
With that said, being a conservative is the equivalent of being charged at by a knife wielding maniac and refusing to use the gun on your hip to defend yourself because you sympathize with the maniac that’s going to murder you.
