Yahoo Journalist Stunned That His Carter Page Article Was Used To Justify Spy Warrant

Investigative journalist Michael Isikoff said Friday that he was surprised to find out that an article he wrote about Carter Page prior to the election was used to obtain a spy warrant against the former Trump campaign adviser.

“Obviously the information that I got from Christopher Steele was information the FBI already had,” he said, noting that Steele began sharing information from his dossier in July 2016.
Isikoff acknowledged the potential problem with the DOJ and FBI citing his article to support the FISA against Page.
“It’s self-referential,” he said of the article and its reliance on the dossier.

Isikoff said his resulting story did not rely solely on what Steele told him.
“I talked to a senior U.S. law enforcement official who was well aware of these allegations,” Isikoff said. “For me, the key piece, the reason that this was a story, was the fact that the FBI was investigating Page.

I believe this is what is called a “circle jerk.”
Who was the senior U.S. law enforcement official who supposedly talked with Isikoff?

Ben Rhodes bragged about his echo chamber. We are seeing just exactly how that echo chamber was used to fabricate the faux Russian narrative. Link below is discussing the use of the echo chamber to push the Iran deal, but the same basic approach seems to have been used for this fake Russian collusion narrative.
Rhodes said, “The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns… They literally know nothing.” Thus they will believe what he tells them. He also tells friendly non-governmental organizations and think tanks what he is telling the journalists. Those outlets produce “experts” whose expert opinion is just what Rhodes wants it to be. These ignorant young journalists thus have quotes that look like independent confirmation of the White House’s lies. Here’s how Samuels describes the scene:
In the spring of last year, legions of arms-control experts began popping up at think tanks and on social media, and then became key sources for hundreds of often-clueless reporters. ‘We created an echo chamber,’ [Rhodes] admitted, when I asked him to explain the onslaught of freshly minted experts cheerleading for the deal. ‘They were saying things that validated what we had given them to say.’ (emphasis added)

Whoops. Isikoff is not following the script. The Washington Compost reported this yesterday.
In reality, the article made was not “derived” from Steele. Isikoff, citing “multiple sources,” reported that U.S. intelligence officials had briefed senior members of Congress on Page’s activities in Russia. Isikoff cited a “congressional source familiar with the briefings” to report that “some of those briefed were ‘taken aback’ when they learned about Page’s contacts in Moscow, viewing them as a possible back channel to the Russians that could undercut U.S. foreign policy.”

I hope Isikoff is watching his back. The CIA doesn’t like it when you deviate from the prepared script.

Isikoff says he and Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS were old friends. It sounds like Glenn Simpson approached him with the story. They met in a private room room so that no one would see them per Isikoff’s podcast.
