A social media post by Florida representative Kat Cammack went viral claiming the Biden administration sent baby formula to the southern border while complaining store shelves were empty in her district. We spoke with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to find out if this is true.
QUESTION: Is the U.S. government providing formula to migrant babies at the border?
ANSWER: This is true and is required under law. In 1997 the U.S. government agreed to set minimum protections for detained minors, including the requirement to provide food and water. This became known as the Flores Settlement Agreement and has been in place ever since.
