The Flamingo Revolution began in late May against a luxury coastal project linked to Jared Kushner and expanded into broader anti-corruption demands targeting Prime Minister Edi Rama, who won a fourth term in May. On 13 October student protesters over university conditions, costs and job prospects gathered outside the Education Ministry in Tirana, joined the wider movement, and clashed with police. Stones were thrown, windows broken. On 14 October tens of thousands marched; a government building and two banks were set alight, bins overturned, and police used water cannons and tear gas. Organizers called it a revolution and demanded Rama’s resignation. Police reported arrests and injuries to officers and a journalist. Protesters said they would continue until the government leaves.
