Apple officially moves its Chinese iCloud operations and encryption keys to China

Sharing is Caring!

Apple formally transferred its Chinese iCloud operations to a local firm in southern China. It also began hosting its iCloud encryption keys in China, instead of the US, for the first time.

    • The company is from America. Do you know what china is doing to …wait for it… chinese people. They are suppressing basic human rights.

  1. I’ve heard this story a few times. Unless someone can prove otherwise, is this move only for Chinese accounts? Sucks to be Chinese. I don’t think this affects us. And the reference to the “updated terms of service,” if a Chinese person is on top of things they can opt out. Besides, I imagine the government threatened to throttle Apple’s bandwidth unless they complied.
As long as none of this sh*t applies to us we’re fine. If I thought *my* cryptokeys were being stored in China I’d drop Apple like a hot potato.
