Brits sign petition to stop taxpayer funding of Meghan Markle & Prince Harry

by Dr. Eowyn

A year and nearly 2 months after former D-list Hollywood actress Meghan Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry, her honeymoon with both Harry and the British people appears to be over.

On June 8, 2019, at Trooping the Colour — the official celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s 93rd birthday — Harry sternly reprimanded Meghan to “turn around” at the National Anthem.

The UK media’s coverage of Markle and readers’ comments on both Markle and Harry have become increasingly critical and hostile. See, for example, Piers Morgan, “Meghan Markle is a ruthless social climbing actress who has landed the role of her life and is determined to milk it for all she can — and that’s why the Palace is beginning to turn on herDaily Mail, Dec. 4, 2018.

A Welsh even started a petition on Change.org to “stop UK funding for Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s lifestyle”. To date, the petition has 2,597 signatories; the goal is 5,000.

The petition says (Note: I added the pics and news links):

Since the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle we, the people have been shocked by the exorbitant spending of this married couple. It is said that Meghan Markle (now the Duchess of Sussex) has spent well over one million pounds (£1000000.00) on just clothes in just under one year.

Britain is facing Brexit and economic hardship. Many thousands are homeless and children are going to school with no breakfast, times are undoubtedly hard for working class Brits. Yet, the taxes that we pay, is going towards an American (not even British) woman’s wardrobe allowance, also this allowance is not supporting British designers,  but mega expensive designers in America, Canada, or Europe.

She has shown little or no understanding of British culture, traditions or history. When visiting Ireland, she posed in front of a statue depicting the Irish potato famine; painfully thin starving Irish people, dressed in rags, struggling to live. I find it hard to look at this statue without crying, but I don’t think that the devastating impact that the Irish potato famine had on Ireland’s social history, registered with her, she looked indifferent, insincere and smug, whilst posing at the statue wearing several thousand pounds worth of Chanel clothing.

See also “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle heckled…at famine memorial in Dublin,” Irish Mirror, July 11, 2018.

To be blunt, she is of no benefit to Britain.  She has no respect for us, & no knowledge of our ancestry or history. When she visited Birkenhead, which is one of the poorest parts of Britain, she again dressed herself in thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes, gaily accepting the gifts bestowed on her by the working class people, for whom every penny counts. she completely missed seeing the stark contrast between her, in her £2000 dress, £3000 coat …and poverty staring her straight in the face.

I could list dozens of examples showing her astonishing disregard for the working class people of UK,  but instead I will bring attention to her baby shower. Held in New York. And which cost the British and American taxpayers over half a million pounds. She flew by private jet, stayed in the most expensive penthouse available, and made full use of American and British  government security services, which are paid by American and British workers taxes.

I’d also like to bring attention to Meghan Markle’s unwanted involvement in politics. Whilst in Ireland, she made a very public statement approving abortion. This is a sensitive issue amongst every person in the western world but particularly Irish people, the majority of which are Catholic. the Irish abortion laws are nobody’s business, but the Irish themselves. She had NO right whatsoever to comment.

See “Meghan Markle ‘Pleased’ Ireland Legalized Abortion,” Daily Wire, July 11, 2018.

Meghan Markle has also made it quite clear that she prefers Obama to Trump, likening President Trump to a “used tampon” (sorry).

See “Trump says he was surprised Meghan Markle was ‘nasty’ about him,” New York Post, June 1, 2019.

She recently accused British universities of racism by not hiring enough black people and even called eminent professors “Male Pale and Stale”.

See “Meghan Markle wants to tackle discrimination in ‘male, pale and stale’ universities,” The Mirror, Feb. 18, 2019.

I am astounded by her lack of tack or respect for ALL citizens. She disrespected the King & Queen of Tonga, by not following royal protocol, and barely made any appearances at the invictus games in Sydney Australia.

Her sense of entitlement is astonishing and if she wants to continue with such behaviour I think it’s only fair, she funds herself. Meghan Markle is now a publically funded figure. Therefore the public has every right to criticise both her and Prince Harry’s behaviour & actions. If she does not agree, she should STOP accepting public funds, simple as that. Prince Harry is married to her and therefore this petition applies to him also.
