The volcano’s activity decreased for some time on Sunday but raised again at the beginning of the week. The eruptions prompted evacuations of at least 7,000 people from numerous villages. Hundreds of local residents living along the coast stayed at home on Monday over the threat of toxic gases which would get released if lava reached the sea.
