FOOD SUPPLY: Three States to Recall 61K Pounds of Ready to Eat Sausage, Poultry; Company Recalls Over 11K Pounds of Frozen Turkey Patties

U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported Friday that Alef Sausage Inc., a Mundelein, Ill. establishment, is recalling approximately 61,574 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) halal meat and poultry sausage products due to misbranding and possible temperature abuse.

FSIS officials said the products were not labeled with a handling statement indicating that they should be kept refrigerated, which could lead to temperature abuse of the products.

On Friday, The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reported that Abbyland Foods, an Abbotsford, Wis., establishment, is recalling approximately 11,800 pounds of frozen turkey meatballs that are labeled as turkey sausage patties due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen.

FSIC officials said the product contains soy, a known allergen not declared on the product label.

The frozen, fully cooked turkey meatball products labeled turkey sausage patties were produced on March 3, 2023.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said Weinstein Wholesale Meats, Inc., a Forest Park, Ill. establishment, is recalling approximately 2,122 pounds of raw ground beef burger products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically pieces of white neoprene.

According to the USDA, the raw ground beef burger patties were produced on March 14, 2023.

Cumin recalled in 16 states after testing finds Salmonella

Lipari Foods is recalling many Lipari Branded Ground Cumin Tubs manufactured by International Food because of potential Salmonella contamination.

The issue was brought to the com attention of the company by the United States Food and Drug Administration and The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), after they were alerted that a sample of the Ground Cumin collected by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services tested positive for Salmonella.
